Welcome to the APV community!
APV is located on the SBMA campus, tucked away in the Indian Himalayas. Mindfulness is the key to our lives and work. In the teachers’ community, we all live together harmoniously, striving for self-development.
In our school community, our 115 students also practice mindfulness. Classrooms are learning communities where we investigate together: the teacher is not superior and the child is not intellectually malnourished. We believe children have different, and in some aspects, more acute, thinking. Through such mindful cooperation, we can create a better world.
We are starting to see glimpses of this better world. As our students graduate to the Anjanisain Inter-College, they have excelled, scoring in the 95th percentile of their classes. They want to continue their relationship with APV by returning, pursuing B.Ed. degrees, and spreading APV’s message. Additionally, through teacher trainings, we have shared our message of holistic education to over 100 villages and 26 government schools. We are now fine-tuning our syllabus and creating a teacher’s activity book to help all people, not just educators, understand our philosophy. We are also developing programs for interested people to visit APV so as to participate in and learn from the philosophy.
For six years now, many have been drawn to our community and mission to explore the meaning of life through education and to help our children. Former AIF fellows Marc Alongi, Tatjana Johnson, and Chad Robertson are working hard to spread APV’s message and fundraise, most recently by organizing the Himalayan Progressive Education Fund.
Chad has just concluded a screening tour of his film about APV in the United States and United Kingdom. We are humbled to hear how people all over the world are moved by our message, “Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaye,” or “knowledge is that which liberates.” This support helps us continue on our path.
Once again, thank you for being a part of the APV family. We hope that our relationship
with you continues to grow.
